The World's most beautiful power plant
Diablo Canyon epitomizes the reason so many conservation scientists love nuclear energy: its environmental impact is tiny.
Diablo sits on just 750 acres. To get the same amount of power from a solar farm, it would have to be on over 100,000 acres. To get the same from a wind farm, it would have to be nearly 400,000 acres.
Nuclear is the greenest form of energy because of the physical density of its fuel, uranium. Nuclear energy requires the least amount of natural resource in the form of fuel and land of any energy source by orders of magnitude.
Diablo Canyon is existence proof that a high-energy human civilization can return more of our natural landscapes to nature.
Diablo teaches us that, when we overcome our fears, we can finally see the beauty sitting right in front of us.
